As I'm sure you know by now, one of our sisters, Laura Davis Doubera ('99), has been diagnosed with Stage 4 rectal cancer that has spread to her liver. What you may not know is that her Kappa Delta sisters, other sororities and fraternities (Delta Zeta, Zeta Tau Alpha, Sigma Phi Epsilon), Longwood alumni, and friends of Longwood alumni are getting involved to help Laura and her family deal with the costs related to her very aggressive treatment.
Kathleen Manning Holroyd is spearheading a Cookbook fundraiser to raise money. Here is how you can help...
1. If you have a recipe that you would like to share for publication in the cookbook, please email it ASAP to kcholroyd@gmail.com. She is planning to get the book to the publisher by the 3rd week in March, so she really needs the recipes soon!!
2. If you would like to purchase 1 OR MORE cookbooks, send a check for $15 per book to Kathleen Holroyd, 9226 Cascade Falls Drive, Bristow, VA 20136 by Wednesday, March 7th. Be sure you include the name and address of the recipient of the cookbooks!
3. If you have ANY QUESTIONS please contact Kathleen via email.
All proceeds from the sale of the cookbooks will go directly to Laura and her family.
Not only has Kathleen started this fundraiser, but others have donated sky miles, hotel points, and even a place to stay in New York while there for treatments. This sorority is GREAT! True sisters!! AOT everyone!
Girls, April is fast approaching! Have you made plans to attend Longwood's Decade of the 80's reunion? Many KDs from the 80's and 90's are planning to attend. It's going to be a great weekend! If you are planning on coming, let me know and I'll add your name to the list below. If I've got you down and you are not coming, let me know that also. And if your name is wrong, well, let me know and I'll fix it!

Unfortunately, sometimes sad news has to be shared...
Laura Davis Doubera (graduated 1999) has been diagnosed with Stage 4 Rectal cancer that has spread to her liver. She is receiving treatment from Sloan Kettering Hospital in New York, which is out of Laura's family's insurance network. Her insurance is paying for 60% of the very aggressive treatment and as you can imagine, Laura and her husband, Scott, are very worried about the mounting bills and the financial impact this will have on them. Scott has set up a website (www.laurasfight.com) to keep everyone informed and to track Laura's progress. They are also asking for your support in prayer. If you would like to help financially, go to Laura's website or contact Kappa Delta Sister Kristina Mason Byrum at Kristina.Mason@nn.k12.va.us . She has taken charge of a fund drive to help raise money for the Doubera family.
Laura, Scott , and son Lucas, along with her entire family are very hopeful and know that by the grace of God, Laura will get through this very difficult time.

It sounds like we are getting a great group of girls together for Longwood's Decade of the 80's reunion April 27-29. Also, the alpha girls are planning an Alumni Tea for Saturday, the 28th. The time is to be announced soon. Hope you all have put this on your calendar! It will be great to see everyone and meet new faces! We'll plan a place to meet up closer to the weekend!
Alpha KD Jennifer Melton has been working at the American School Dubai in Dubai, UAE since August of 2006. She is a school counselor and says that she is loving the overseas experience! She has been keeping a great blog about her experiences--check it out! Also, sister Whitney Light went to visit in January. Hey, how about a KD fieldtrip to visit her?!
Nicole Wilkinson is the Kappa Delta advisor for the girls at the University of Georgia in Athens. She says that it's amazing how similar everything is, but at the same time, with three times as many girls as Alpha chapter, their meetings last about 25 minutes as compared to Alpha's marathon meetings!!! She also says, "GO, DAWGS!"

Katharine McKeown Bond, husband Mark, big brother Connor, and big sister Parker are happy to welcome new sister Morgan Elizabeth home. She was born on February 12th. The picture above is of Connor (4 1/2), Parker (2), and baby Morgan. Katharine, I hope you have some help!!! :)
Angela Kocher Rimington, husband Jason, and son Noah are getting ready for baby boy #2 to be delivered via C-section on March 14th. We can't wait to hear the great news of his arrival!!
