Update to the Update to the Reunion

OK, HOTTIES...have we got a group of girls going to the reunion or what?! Now it sounds like we need to start talking about where, when, and how we are all going to meet up.

You can find the schedule of events on the Longwood Link website, as well as a link to pre-register . I called the alumni office (1.800.281.4677) to clarify a couple of things:

  • In order to pre-register online, you need a "Constituent ID". If you don't know your ID Number, just email the office or give them a call.
  • There are fees for each event. The three that Vecelo Moore in the alumni office mentioned are:
    1. The Friday night Wine and Cheese event in the Rotunda--$15
    2. The Saturday afternoon Picnic lunch on Brock Commons--$15
    3. The Saturday night BBQ and Band at the golf course--$35
  • If you choose to register once you get to Longwood, the fee for each event is an additional $5.
  • If you graduated in the 90's you can still register online for the events.
I have also spoken with Tracy Wergley Graebener (a chapter advisor) and she has set us up with two Kappa Delta girls who will meet us in front of Stubbs on Saturday to take us up to the chapter room. They are available at 1:30, which is the time that Longwood has designated as "free time" to tour the campus. Please email me or post a comment to the blog if you can make this time and are interested in going to the chapter room. As of right now, I don't know if the chapter room will be open before 1:30. We are working on that. If you are not planning on having lunch on Brock Commons, then this would be a great place for ALL of us to meet up.

Let me know if you have any other suggestions for a super get-together. I do NOT consider myself an organizer...just a messenger!

If you are still looking for a hotel room, try the Comfort Inn (434.392.8163) or the Super 8 (404.392.8196). Be sure to ask for a Longwood Reunion room.

Keep Them In Your Prayers...

Sisters, more sad news. Tom "Sparko" and Paula Geib Lackey's ('88) son, Brendan, 12 years old, has been battling lung cancer for two years and has made a turn for the worse. His cancer is now aggressively attacking his cells and doctors are predicting that he has about 2 months to live. Tom and Paula's daughter, Tara, 10 years old, was diagnosed with a rare stomach cancer when she was 2 and thankfully has been in remission for 5 1/2 years now. As you can imagine, Tom and Paula are going through every imaginable emotion, Brendan is scared of the unknown, and Tara is afraid that her cancer will now return. Their youngest daughter, Erin, who is 6 and healthy, thank God, does not know of this latest news of Brendan's condition.

Please add the Lackey family to your prayers for hope and peace as they go through this most difficult time. If you would like to send them a note, their address is below. If you would like to get in touch with them by phone, please email Amanda Lawler for their number.
